Welcome to the official newsletter of “The Transition,” brought to you by me, "IRON" Mike Steadman, A Marine Corps Veteran, Social Entrepreneur, and Member of The Bunker Labs Branding Team.
Dear Bunker,
It's a beautiful day in New York City. I’m writing to you today from the Plowshares Coffee Shop in Harlem, a hip coffee spot I came across a few months ago.
Every weekend, I try to carve out a few hours to read and write, although I’ve been shamming lately. As much as I try to stay above the world-wind of the week, I find myself sprinting Monday through Friday, trying to get everything done.
I own and run multiple businesses at this point, so I can’t rest on my laurels and just create content. That’s not my goal anyway. I’m not a full-time content creator, I’m a full-time veteran entrepreneur.
Most weekends, you can find me at my favorite coffee shop or a bookstore, just relaxing and thinking. They’re my safe spaces.
I know it’s important to find some work-life balance, but when you’re an entrepreneur, that’s easier said than done, especially once you transition full-time. I have so many creative ideas in my head, many of which I’m not able to work on during the week, so I tackle them on weekend, like this newsletter!
Rather than put it off again, I decided to make it easy for myself, grabbed a mocha latte, and started writing.
I don’t have much of an agenda this week, other than wanting you to know what I’m up to today.
As much as I want to automate my newsletter to drop a certain day and time each week, I think I have too much automation going on as it is. I’m giving myself some grace to just write today, and enjoying the opportunity to communicate with you all.
I’m curious, what are you reading and how are you spending your weekend?
The Transition is brought to you by MetLife Foundation, and their commitment the supporting veteran and military-spouse entrepreneurs. In addition, Metlife Foundation also provides mentorship and financial health resources to veterans and military spouses transitioning into the workforce.
***P.S. I’m a Marine Grunt, so I apologize for any grammar errors in advance, but know I’m working on improving my writing."
