How A Black Veteran Secured A 500k Investment on Shark Tank with Manuel Godoy, Founder & CEO of Black Sands Entertainment
You don't hear that everyday!
Dear Bunker,
I interviewed Army Veteran Manuel Godoy, Founder & CEO of Black Sands Entertainment, the number one black-owned publishing house and comic book company in the nation.
Black Sands Entertainment recently secured a 500k investment from Mark Cuban and Kevin Hart on the hit TV show Shark Tank.
Manuel and his wife Geisel, whose also an Army Veteran, started the company together in 2016 with the original intent to create video games. Due to the challenges and funding requirements of the gaming industry, the couple pivoted into comic book production, finding success with their flagship series, “Black Sands: The Seven Kingdom’s.” Manuel and his team are on a mission to create stories of black people before slavery, by leveraging comics and other forms of New Media.
On The Transition, he opens about his challenges raising venture capital for Black Sands, why more black founders need to leverage crowdfunding, and his plan to turn Black Sands Entertainment into a billion dollar publishing house.
