Why Steve Harvey's Interview on The Earn Your Leisure Podcast Is The Most Inspirational Podcast I've Ever Heard
Don't sleep on Uncle Steve
Welcome to the official newsletter of “The Transition,” brought to you by me, "IRON" Mike Steadman, A Marine Corps Veteran, Social Entrepreneur, and Member of The Bunker Labs Branding Team.
Dear Bunker,
Over the weekend I listened to Earn Your Leisure’s podcast interview with Steve Harvey, and trust me when I say, it maybe one of the greatest podcast I’ve ever heard.
That’s a bold statement that I don’t take lightly. As a podcast host, producer, and audio addict, I listen to audio all day everyday, so I know what right looks like. Something about Steve’s interview just hit me different because of where I’m at in my own life, chasing greatness.
During the podcast Steve opens up about what it took to build his multimillion dollar empire, twice. He lost it all the first time after a divorce in 2005, and again in 2008 after being faced with a 22 million dollar tax and jail sentence, which he paid off in full! So many of us start at zero, but imagine starting at negative 22 million.
I took a few notes on Steve's Five Principles for Success:
Dream Big - There's enough people playing small already.
Use Your Imagination - “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” ― Albert Einstein
Show Gratitude - Be thankful for what you have and remember how bad you wanted it before you had it.
Overcome Fear - Fear is the little mind killer that destroys us insight out. You can't achieve want you want in life without facing your fears.
Have Faith - "You must maintain unwavering faith that you can and will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties, and at the same time, have the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be."
I think so many of us play small out of fear of failure and a lack of imagination, talking ourselves out of own greatness.
In the words of Napoleon Hill, “Whatever Your Mind Can Conceive and Believe, It Can Achieve.” I know it sounds cliche, but what’s the alternative? Settling for a life of mediocrity and negativity, or chasing our entrepreneurial dreams? I’ll let you decide, I know what I’m choosing.
Please gift yourself by listening to the interview below. It’s a meal not a snack. Moving forward, I’m going to share more insights and content that I consume outside of the Transition, to compliment a lot of topics and principles discussed on the show.
I don’t take you subscribing to this newsletter lightly, and everything I write or share is meant to provide value. Once you listen, comment below or message me on Linkedin, and let met know your thoughts.
